During the 2007 and 2008 editions of the Dutch 3FM Serious Request charity campaign, Rico Ploeg volunteered his photographic expertise for the television segment "De Klusjesmannen", a fundraising initiative supporting Serious Request.
As part of these projects, Rico developed and executed creative photographic concepts featuring well-known Dutch radio personalities, television presenters and celebrities. The productions were filmed by television crews, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the technical and creative process involved in producing the final images.
For the 2007 campaign, themed around access to clean drinking water, high-speed flash photography was used to freeze dramatic water splashes in mid-air, visually supporting the campaign message.

For the 2008 campaign, focused on the global refugee crisis, participants were photographed jumping onto hidden crash cushions while smoke and special effects created a sense of urgency and displacement. The resulting images formed part of the fundraising campaign and were featured in television coverage of the project.

These appearances provided a rare behind-the-scenes view of commercial and advertising photography techniques while helping raise awareness and support for the annual Serious Request charity campaign.
